Singapore Changi Airport

Singapore is a major tourist destination in Southeast Asia. Every year millions of tourist visits this amazing city state to have a wonderful vacation here.  The country is home to a number of tourist attractions.  The city state has high quality transportation facilities as well as great communication facilities. The Singapore international airport is one of the major tourist gateway to Singapore.  A large section of the tourists who visit Singapore reach the country through the airport. 

Singapore Changi Airport or Changi Airport is a major aviation hub in Asia. This is one of the most important airport particularly in the Southeast Asian region. It is also the main airport in Singapore, the lion city. This international airport is located  in Changi. The site of the airport covers an area of 13 square kilometers. The international airport in Singapore is situated about 17.2 kilometers north-east from the commercial centre in Singapore.

Singapore Changi Airport is operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. The airport is also known as the home base of a number of airlines. The airlines that have their homebase in Singapore include Singapore Airlines, Jett8 Airlines Cargo, SilkAir, Tiger Airways, Valuair, Jetstar Asia Airways, and Singapore Airlines Cargo. The airport is also a hub for Garuda Indonesia as well as a secondary hub for Qantas. Qantas uses Singapore as their main stopover point for flights that are operated on the Kangaroo Route between Australia and Europe.  Qantas is considered as the largest foreign airline to operate from this airport. The airline handles over two million passengers annually. The airport handled about 4,340 weekly flights that were operated by 80 airlines to over 116 cities in as many as 59 countries. Singapore Changi Airport is an important contributor to the Singapore economy as more than 13,000 people are employed at the airport.
